For its first participation in BGW Rendez-Vous, Colnaghi Brussels invited COSEINCORSO to curate The Order of Things. Rather than a chronological survey, the exhibition was conceived as an interior — recalling a private collection or an artist's studio — where paintings, antiquities and design could sit side by side and speak to one another.

We began by selecting works from the gallery's own collection, choosing pieces whose material, form and subject would open a dialogue rather than simply illustrate a period. Around this selection, we designed the scenography for the show and conceived two new pieces, a screen and a bench, made specifically to hold the space and frame the works within it.

Our own contemporary objects and photographs were then placed in direct relation to Colnaghi's paintings and antiquities — connected not by date, but by shared questions of material, craft and use. The result is an installation where each work keeps its own history while gaining new meaning from what stands beside it.
